My Story
I have always loved math.
Yes, you read that right, I love math. Thinking, problem-solving, and puzzles have always been fun for me. When I was younger, people would ask if I wanted to teach math, but I rejected this idea because there was still so much I wanted to learn.

As I continued to pursue math in college, teaching found its way to me anyway. In my freshman year, I was asked to tutor Calculus 3. By my senior year, I was also privately tutoring Calculus 1 and volunteering at the local elementary and high schools to help students with math.

However, I was still unsure what I wanted to do with math. I wasn't done learning. But the farther I got in my coursework, the more abstract and disconnected from life it seemed. This led me to be drawn to biology, where I was able to ask questions and solve problems about living systems. Hooked by the process of discovering new knowledge, I decided to continue with biology research after college.

Obsessed with the question "how do cells know things?", I moved to Colorado in 2018 to pursue my PhD in biomedical sciences. During my training, I learned my passion was in communications; I loved talking about science more than doing experiments.
After receiving my degree, I pursued science communications and worked in pharmaceutical advertising. Here I learned that sales is not a form of communication that I am passionate about.

Wanting to do something more meaningful, I began teaching one-on-one swim lessons to children. As I got to know my students, I started to form individualized strategies depending on their personalities, needs, and goals. Each student was a puzzle, and my job was to figure out how to get them to progress. Over time, I watched them grow, improve, and become more confident in the water. This was the first time I felt extremely proud and truly fulfilled from my work. And that's when it finally dawned on me that I wanted to teach.
As I reflected on what I wanted to teach, I knew I would return to math. Today, I bring everything I've learned throughout my journey into my work with students. I believe math makes the most sense when it's taught with patience, curiosity, and care for the individual learner. Whether building foundations or tackling advanced material, my goal is always the same: to help my students understand what they're doing, trust themselves, and gain confidence that goes beyond math.
